Home MenuAlleyway Improvements Project
The City Council has received a Feasibility Report for improvements to the alleyway that serves homes on Idaho and Iowa between Pascal Street and Arona Street. The alleyway had a drainage issue at Pascal Street and deteriorated pavement. Improvements will include milling and paving the top layer of asphalt along with storm water improvements. The City Council will consider ordering these improvements at an upcoming meeting this fall. If approved, the project would be scheduled for construction in the summer of 2022.
Alleyway improvements are assessed against the adjacent properties based on the City’s Special Assessment Policy. Special assessments would fund 90% of the alleyway improvement costs and the City’s street fund would pay for the remaining 10% of the improvement. The assessment hearing would take place after the improvements are constructed, anticipated in fall of 2022.
The City evaluated the pavement condition of the nearby alleyways to potentially include in this project. You will already have received a letter if your alleyway pavement meets the threshold for potential improvement. The letter includes information about the opportunity for petitioning the Council for improvement of your alleyway. Petitions must be received by October 1, 2021.
