To maintain our commitment to robust public participation, City Council and Commission meetings will allow City Council and Commission members, staff, and the public to participate virtually in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the interest of protecting the health and safety of the community, City staff have devised multiple ways for the public to participate remotely in the meetings before and during the live meeting.
Public comment prior to a meeting
Members of the public interested in providing comment prior to a meeting have two options:
1. Send an email to mail@falconheights.org
2. Complete a City Hall Contact Form
Written public comments will be compiled and delivered to City Council/Commission members.
Public comment during a meeting
1. Members of the public who wish to comment during public comment periods will be asked to join the meeting on the Zoom webinar platform. Meeting attendees should click the raise hand button during the appropriate comment period to alert city staff that would like to comment. Individuals will be recognized and their microphones will be enabled allowing them to comment. Zoom meeting information will be posted on the meeting calendar page in advance of each meeting.
2. During City Council and Planning Commission meetings, members of the public may also send comments during the meeting while watching the livestream from CTV. Visit our City page on CTV for the link to the live video and submit a question or comment. Your message will be sent to City staff via email. The CTV livestream is only available for City Council and Planning Commission meetings.
More information on providing public comment during meetings
Why is the City conducting City Council and Commission meetings as virtual meetings?
During a time of pandemic, State law allows cities and other public entities to conduct meetings entirely by telephone or electronic means, without the normal requirement that the public have access to the physical meeting location. That is only allowed in a time of pandemic. Otherwise, meetings must be physically accessible to the public. In the interest of protecting the health and safety of the community, we have decided to hold meetings electronically. But, that does not mean that we want to or intend to exclude the public from participation.
Where can I find information about upcoming meetings?
Visit the City Calendar, where you'll find meeting dates and agenda packets, which contain information to join virtual meetings by videoconference or teleconference. Please contact City Hall with questions about accessing materials.
